Ayurveda and Hair Treatments Stress, worry, anxiety, and inadequate nutrition lead to hair loss and premature graying of hair. A certain amount of hair loss is considered normal, as old strands are replaced by new. When hair loss is excessive, care must be taken. Similarly, the graying of hair after a certain age is a normal phenomenon, but when this starts in the early years of life, one should look into for remedies. Causes of hair fall in ayurveda Increased intake of fried, sour, spicy, salty, and fermented foods, as well as tea and coffee, aggravate the Pitta Dosha (Ayurvedic humor representing Fire) in the body. This Pitta accumulates in the skin of the scalp, leading to hair falling out and graying prematurely. Factors like excessive anger and stress are also responsible. Excessive consumption of alcohol and meat also aggravate Pitta. Ayurvedic Hair loss and premature greying treatment. Hair loss is known as Khalitya in Ayurveda. According to Ayurveda, hair is a byproduct of bone formation and the tissue responsible for building bones is also responsible for the growth of hair. Early hair loss is related to body type and the balance of the mind-body constitution (doshas). People who have excess Pitta in their body are likely to lose their hair early in life, or have prematurely thin or gray hair. Excess Pitta in the sebaceous gland, at the root of the hair, or folliculitis can lead to hair loss. Ayurvedic treatment of hair loss is aimed at pacification of Pitta through a customized diet and lifestyle regime, along with medication. A combination of diet, herbs, oil massage, meditation, aromatherapy, breathing and yoga can be beneficial in addressing the problem of hair loss and premature graying of hair.

Ayurveda and Hairs key to healthy hair and nails? According to Ayurveda, hair and nails are the by-product of bone metabolism, so your diet must nourish the bone tissue. At the same time, your diet must also purify the fat tissue, because healthy bone tissue depends on healthy fat tissue. Thus, taking care of the fat tissue, and simultaneously nourishing the bone, is the key to hair and nail health. People are often told to take lots of calcium to strengthen their nails and bones, but calcium will not help if the fat tissue is filled with ama, the toxic waste-product of incorrect digestion. Impurities in the fat tissue cause weakened bone production, and that is reflected in dull hair, weak nails and problem skin. Food that is recommend for strengthening hairs in ayurveda ? Eating more sweet, juicy fruits, cooked greens, and leafy green vegetables with a bitter taste will help. Seasoning the vegetables with equal parts of fenugreek,  cumin  turmeric and coriander, sauteed in ghee, will also help purify fat tissue and strengthen bone tissue. Adding fresh shredded coconut to your diet and always using healthy fats — such as olive oil or ghee — in cooking is also recommended. At the same time, it's important to avoid foods that are difficult to digest and create ama (digestive impurities). Stay away from excessive amounts of refined sugars; ice-cold drinks; cold foods straight from the refrigerator; leftovers; processed and packaged foods; unhealthy fats; and heavy, deep-fried foods. It's also important to follow the diet that provides balance for you as an individual.Exercising regularly with yogasanas will also help balance fat metabolism. Herbal products Avoid using harsh commercial shampoos and conditioners that contain DEA, sodium lauryl sulfate, or other such chemicals, as these can strip the luster it from your hair and cause deeper imbalances. It also helps to massage the hair with warm oil. If your hair is dry, massage your head at least twice a week; otherwise, once a week is enough. A warm-oil massage stimulates the scalp and helps moisturize the hair and scalp. The Healthy Hair and Nails  herbal formula helps balance the system internally to produce shiny hair and strong nails. The formula contains Eclipta Alba, Indian Tinospora and Phyllanthus Niruri, which are known as keshya herbs in ayurveda — they provide powerful nourishment for the hair. Organic Amla Berry  herbal tablets contain the Indian Gooseberry, which is famous in the ayurvedic literature for improving hair and nail strength. Finally, the Calcium Support Formula supports the metabolism of bone tissue and helps eliminate ama (impurities inside the body).
Joint Pain And Ayurveda Joint Pain and pain while movement are among the most common problems for which a patient consults a doctor. There are several conditions that affect the normal functioning of the joints leading to the manifestations of different diseases. Injury due to trauma is one of the issues, leading to impaired joint function but the main issues that cause dysfunction in joints are inflammation and degeneration. The various conditions affecting different joints include Other diseases affecting specific Joints Shoulder Joint Adhesive capsulitis Frozen Shoulder Peri-Arthritis Shoulder Elbow Joint Tennis elbow Golfer's Elbow Wrist Joint Carpel tunnel Syndrome Ankle and foot Plantar Fasciitis AchillesTendonitis Calcaneal Bursitis Hip Joint Avascular necrosis of head of Femur Knee Joint Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment Arthritis Causes Of Joint Problems Joint problems can be caused by several issues, however the main causes are Degeneration Wear and tear. With age, the cartilages lining the bones tend to get worn out leading to reduction in the space between the bones and produces grating when the joint is moved. The bones can also get weak due to several factors like age, lack of exercises, deficiency of Calcium or Vitamin D and after menopause in women. This can also lead to chances of fracture and can cause joint pain and other problems in the joints. Inflammation Inflammation is a process, wherein the body secretes several chemicals to breakdown substances that are not functional or are foreign to the body, to disintegrate the unwanted materials and remove them. This is a protective function meant to protect the healthy tissues from invading organisms like bacteria and viruses and from being affected by the damaged tissues. Inflammation may be triggered by damages to the tissue as in the case of injury, or by infection or by a process called auto-immunity. However inflammation that gets out of control can badly damage the tissues leading to impaired functioning. Auto-immunity is one such condition where the immune system mistakes parts of the body for invading organisms and start attacking the body’s own tissues leading to damage to the structures involved. Damage due to Injury Injury can cause structural damage to any of the tissues of a joint like the bones, the menisci, tendons and ligaments that can affect the functioning of the joints and lead to diseases. Symptoms of joint Problems Pain – Pain may be at the joint or in parts of the body associated with the joint.swelling – Swelling is often a sign of inflammation.Stiffness – Stiffness is caused by the body to prevent excessive movement in order to protect the damaged part.Limited range of movements – when a muscle or tendon is affected, it is not possible to move the joint through the full range that is normally possible.Tenderness– Tenderness is pain on touching the part and is a sign of inflammation.Weakness– Weakness of the part of the body associated with the joint is often seen.Inability to move the part – When a tendon or muscle is affected, the person is not able to move the affected part. Movement may also be restricted by pain.Fever – Joint problems can also be a part of a systemic issue and a disease that not only affects the joint but also other organs in the body  Ex. Ankylosing Spondylitis. Treatment of joint Problems The goal of ayurvedic treatment for joint Pain and other joint problems is to get rid of the symptoms like pain, tenderness, swelling, redness, stiffness etc associated with the problem, to enable the person to perform the normal activities and to prevent further complications and recurrence.
Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. For many people, varicose veins and spider veins — a common, mild variation of varicose veins — are simply a cosmetic concern. For other people, varicose veins can cause aching pain and discomfort. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins. According to ayurveda varicose veins are caused due to Rakta dhatu dusti, so raktamokshana is the main line of treatment in treating varicose veins by ayurveda, at our clinic we give panchakarma therapy along with medication for varicose veins, this can be completely cured by using ayurvedic treatments for varicose veins.
Infertility and Ayurveda Infertility primarily refers to the biological inability of a person to contribute to conception. In women, it may also refer to the state when she is not able to carry a pregnancy to its full term. Causes Female infertility is caused due to structural problems like blocked fallopian tubes, defect in cervical canal, uterine fibroids or polyps. Hormonal imbalance leading to ovulation problems too can cause infertility. In males infertility may have anatomical, psychological, hormonal or lifestyle related causes. The cause of infertility in approximately 20% of couples can't be determined using the currently available methods of investigation. From Ayurvedic perspectives, shukra dhatu can get affected by various physical, mental causes and even by serious diseases. Poor quality shukra dhatu can cause infertility in males & females. Symptoms Failure to reproduce Ayurvedic infertility Treatment According to Ayurveda, preparing for conception can be easily compared to the process of farming. Just like the health of a crop depends on the quality of soil, seed, timing of sowing, and amount of watering it gets, the health of a baby depends on the health of its parents. For a pregnancy to be healthy and successful, a couple needs to take care of the following four essential factors: Sperm/Ovum (Seeds) Uterus (Soil) Nourishment (Water) Time for Conception (Timing of Sowing) Reproductive health, in both men and women, depends on the health of the reproductive tissue or shukra dhatu. In women, shukra creates the ovum as part of the monthly cycle, and in men the semen is formed due to sexual stimulation. The shukra is created as part of a long chain of metabolic transformations. It starts with the digestion of food, then goes on to transformation of food to nutrient fluid, blood, muscle, fat, bone, bone marrow, and finally, to shukra tissue. Healthy shukra tissue, then, according to Ayurveda, depends on the health of all the other tissues in the body.

Acne Acne is a skin condition in which there is excess production of oil from the sebaceous glands leading to the blockage of hair follicles. It is the most common problem of adolescents, and is therefore known as Yauvanpidika in Ayurveda; yauvan means ‘adolescence’ and pidika means ‘pustules or papules’. Acne usually affects the face, back and shoulders and other areas that are densely populated with sebaceous glands. Acne presents either as whiteheads, blackheads, pimples or nodules. Causes The primary cause is impairment of all the three doshas, predominantly the pitta dosha, which further vitiates the rakta and meda dhatus. Vitiated doshas produce toxins leading to pimple formation. The condition of acne can also be aggravated by excessive intake of oily, spicy, salty and sour foods. Symptoms Whiteheads Blackheads Pimples Ayurvedic Treatment for Acne Ayurveda has a singular approach to all forms of acne as this problem appears due to imbalance of the three doshas — vata, pitta and kapha. However, the main cause is the aggravation of the pitta dosha, an Ayurvedic humor that symbolizes heat or fire. Pitta dosha manifests in the skin and causes accumulation of heating toxins. These heating toxins accumulate in deep tissues like rasa (nutrient plasma), rakta, (blood), mamsa (muscles) and lasika (lymphatic). These toxins cause contamination of deeper tissues, leading to the condition of Yauvanpidika. Because acne is deep-rooted, use of local creams, antibiotics and lotions only masks the symptoms. Thus, specific Ayurvedic treatment is advised which includes right diet, lifestyle and some specialized herbal combinations that tackle the disease from its root cause.
Asthama and Ayurveda Asthma is a respiratory disease which is characterized by narrowing of the airways. This happens when the body responses to a trigger such as exposure to cold air, allergens in the air, emotional stress or heavy exercise. When the airways narrow, patients show symptoms such as tightness of the chest, wheezing noise while breathing, coughing and shortness of breath. Causes The cause of asthma according to Ayurveda is accumulation of Kapha in the airways. The airways become narrow because of the blockage caused by Kapha. As a result, the flow of air to the lungs is interrupted, which makes the patient experiences difficulty in breathing. Asthma is caused because of excessive intake of vata (cold), consuming kapha aggravating food items, weakening of the lung tissues, and problems caused by lung diseases. Environmental and lifestyle factors also play a role in asthma. Consuming cold or stale foods are not easy to digest and lead to the formation of ama (mucus) thereby causing blockage in the respiratory channel and difficulty in breathing. Living in cold and damp environment is also a reason of asthma. Symptoms Cough Chest pain Tightness in breathing Wheezing Shortness of breath Ayurvedic asthama treatment Ayurvedic asthma treatment considers bad digestion as a major cause. When the digestive system is weak, the body becomes oversensitive to dust, pollen and other substances which trigger an asthma attack. Deposits of ama (mucus) in the lungs and respiratory tract create obstruction in breathing and cause wheezing or coughing. Ayurvedic treatment of asthma focuses on restoring digestion with herbal preparations and the right diet and lifestyle changes. The medicines primarily work on pacifying Kapha and cleansing toxins from the body. In addition, specific herbal combinations are also supplemented to boost the body’s immunity.
